Reading

I am so hooked on reading lately! I absolutely love my kindle app and have over 800 books just waiting for me to read! I get new ones every week, and I think I have only paid for 3! Some of these books that I have read so far have been so good! I am loving it! Murder mystery are some of my favorites. One was by a gal in cache valley that took place there and was about a girl who ran a 5k and then won an entry to the St George marathon and went through her training, while at the same time, she finds out her dad, who was shot years ago is still alive and has been helping free slaves outside the country who are being shipped here. It was so good and got me started into running.

My most recent book is one that I bought from  Desseret Book to get discount Lagoon passes. It is called "The Walk" by Richard Paul Evans. I have loved his books. This one I couldn't put down and finished in two days, only to find out that there is two more books that come after and another to come. It was a great story about a guy who loses his wife to an accident and leaves everything to walk from Seattle to Florida! All the books go through the people that he meets along the way and how he helps them in one way or another. I am going to go look for the next books. I found them on kindle for about $8, but I think I want them in print. There was something in this first book that really touched me and I want to share with you, because you never know who might come into our lives and even though they may not be with us for long, they always leave something with us that we remember and learn from, so here is what I want you to think about:

"God puts people in our lives for a reason. Only through serving others can we save ourselves."

Isn't that great!? My challenge to you: find someone you can serve today, in anyway at all! You will be blessed and so will they, and our world will a little better because of us! Love you!

Day 2 & 3 Body by Vi challenge

Can I just tell you how good I am feeling! I am absolutely loving this challenge! Now I need to start off by saying if you are interested at all in this product and getting the best health, go to this website: http://drbradford.bodybyvi.com/challenge

This is the Dr that is my mentor through this. He and his wife are some of my most favorite people! They are young, like me :), and health conscious and want the best for everyone. He sells these products and can be right there with you helping you down this road! He can also answer any questions you might have through your challenge!

Anyway, day 2 was Saturday, which is usually a hard day for me to be good. I actually did pretty good, but I didn't eat much of a snack in the afternoon and by the time I had dinner on the table, I was famished and we got a pizza from Walmart to bake (these are really good pizzas). Now this wasnt really all that bad, I cut the pieces pretty small, but I was just so hungry, I did over eat a little *hang head in shame* but I still felt it wasn't too bad. Just need to control.

Day 3 was Sunday, an easy day for me to be good. I started off by weighing myself. I weighed last Sunday morning as well and within the week, lost 4 lbs! Two days of that was on my Vi challenge. I love that I was just able to lose instead being the same from Sunday to Sunday. Anyway, Sunday is pretty easy because of church, I am not home for 3+ hours during the day to worry about food, so I take a small snack to eat in between my classes, this works well. I also took my energy drink to drink during the afternoon. Sunday dinner was chicken enchiladas, which were very yummy, and I only had one, so yay for me not taking another! This is one of my favorite dishes and I usually go overboard, so I feel I did well. Then I had some popcorn with my hubby when we watched our show. I have the 99% fat free kind and it is really good, but I should get even more healthy and just pop my own from bulk kernels, I have tons. So I feel that I have done really well over the last week.  I am loving life! I feel great! And I feel that I am on a good path to where I want/need to be. My goal to lose 20 lbs is well within reason and I am very confident that I can get to that goal within the 90 days and if I exceed that, then all the more better! Now I need to just figure out how to firm up the skin on the back of my arms! I lead the singing in sacrament meeting and I think I had some very "relief society arms" going on! (that's what we called it when I was younger) so I need to get rid of the flapping arms, hopefully lifting weights will help that, I plan to start this week lifting, so that I don't have people laughing at me as I'm leading. I would probably start laughing with them, even knowing they are laughing at me! It's good to laugh at yourself though, right? All the more reason to get it in shape fast to save myself the embarrassment! Well until tomorrow, keep on living!

90 day Visalus challenge

Wow how time flies and life just gets so busy! As I have complained about before, my weight has been an issue for a while. It doesn't help that my stress level is up there as well. I can't wait for my kids to start school! They just complain that they have to clean and read and ask for things, not that school would be much different, but the structure is missing and they always listen better to other people than mom and dad. Plus the nice break from each other would be greatly appreciated right now.

Anyway, back to my weight issues...I am one of those that think everyday that they are doing ok: "I didn't eat so bad today." "I did exercise (for about 10 mins)." But then each week, I see my weight go down by 3 lbs, then back up and sometimes more. Very frustrating. What's even more frustrating are the days that I make brownies or cookies or some kind of treat and then eat half the batch, weigh the next day and I've dropped 4 lbs!? What?! How does that work? So a few months back I decided to do a cleanse to clean out my system and try to jump start some healthy choices. It went pretty well, it was 21 days of a nasty tasting shake, lots of fish, chicken and lightly steamed veggies. I didn't mind for the first couple weeks, but the last week I was bad and didn't stick to it at all. I maybe lost 8 lbs. Not so effective for weight loss. I pretty much stopped going to the gym and just some things here and there and didn't really care to much. Now I am back to the "I want to be cute and skinny" stage, since my pants are fitting tighter and I look awful in a swim suit, plus i have to wiggle into it to even get it on. Not my idea of a fun time.

I have talked before of my most wonderful chiropractor, Tyson Bradford. He I the one that got me on the cleanse and been treating our family for allergies with NAET, which have helped us all out so much! Well, now he is gung ho about getting the world healthy! I love his ambition! So he found this most amazing product, it is called Visalus! Something to compare it to would be Herbal Life, Isagenix, Slim Fast, anything that has a meal replacement weight loss type shake. This is actually much cheaper than some of these. It is a shake, that is so yummy, that is packed full of vitamins, protein and all the good stuff you need to get healthy. I decided to take the 90 day challenge and go through the weight loss program and see what 90 can do for me. I have a goal to lose 20 lbs, but more would not make me sad! Toady I started two, let me rewind and tell you about day one:

Day 1 Body by Vi challenge

I started my day with a yummy shake of bananas, strawberries and the protein powder, salon with a couple supplements. Did I mention the shake smells like a cake mix and tastes a lot like ice cream? Yeah, I'm talking yummy! I also have an energy drink mix in, like Crystal Light, but with no caffeine, it is herb based. There is also an appetite suppressant that you mix with water when you a feeling hungry in between meals. And then I had a chicken breast, steamed broccoli, strawberries and a spoon of homemade Mac and cheese (can't pass up the homemade stuff, but was good to not eat to much). Overall, not a bad day. I even had energy all day long, which is something I have really been lacking lately, I LOVE that aspect of it. Just need to learn to portion control and I think I will be ok. Weighed in this morning, day 2, to find I was up 2 ounces from yesterday. I hope this is just a "gain before you lose" thing, otherwise, my body is messed up and I hope that this program will help to regulate it. I do love having the shakes though, they are so yummy and I feel like I am treating myself each time I have one. So even after the 90 days I will continue to have the shakes.

I haven't decided if I will sell this yet, to earn my product for free, but if I do, that would be great! It is such a great product, I love it already and it's only been one day.

Summer time!!!

Today was the last day of school for my kids, it came way to quick. This year though I am not dreading it quite as much as years past. I am really looking forward to this summer. My husband has stating doing a 9/80 schedule, I think is what it's called. He works 9 hours every day and then gets every other Friday off. It has been nice so far and the summer will be even more fun! We have fishing trips planned, camping, groupons to use for bowling, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, hiking, a walk for life with my family in Idaho to support my mom who is a breast cancer survivor, etc. we are going to stay busy and just have lots of fun as a family. Our kids are doing baseball right now and will stay busy for a few more weeks with that. The four boys will also start the summer parks program which runs Monday through Thursday at the park not too far from us, where they can go and play and be outside getting excercie. That runs for about 6 weeks. Then we will start working on getting them ready for school again. It seems so far away now, but I think the summer will fly by much to fast. It will be a very fun summer though. What do you and your family have planned for the summer?

Random, random

I seriously can not believe how time flies! It has been so long since I last posted anything, and now I wish I had done more. I have been overly busy with life and all sorts of other things. I have picked up more kids that I watch here and there each day, but I love it, they are so much fun and the extra money is great! I have done lots of sewing, including a dress and skirt for myself, a satchel, and about 10 skirts for Addie and a few other girls that I watch. They were so much fun to make. I am still running my two produce co ops and love the fruits and veggies we get each week. I am also still couponing and working hard to save my family money. Just last night I went to Smith's and bought 69 items including hamburger/tuna/chicken helper, bologna, cheese blocks, ketchup, salad dressing, butter, sour cream, eggs, and some gardening gloves for the kids on clearance, and paid $42.61 for all of it. Plus i still have a $4 coupon to use next time. There is a few deals going on right now with catalinas, so I got all the helper meals (36) for FREE with catalina, and I also have a $4 catalina for the Oscar Mayer bologna that I can use next time, which might be soon, my kids need cereal and GM cereals are on sale with the Catalina as well! I love grocery shopping! I wish I had a pic to add to this but I don't, sorry. Now I need to start freezing meals so that on the days I don't want to cook or it's to hot to cook, I can just pull something out of the freezer and throw in the oven or crockpot. Baseball season is here and in full swing (haha). We are now at baseball games 4 nights a week, Monday through Thursday. Thankfully our 3 younger boys are all on the same team and then our oldest is in a different league. Thankfully they don't play on the same nights, but it does make it crazy to be running every night. We enjoy it though. Our oldest is doing so good. He hits great, when he is watching the ball and it connects with the bat. He struck out twice last night, but he had some good swings! So wish me luck keeping up with all of these games!

sewing

I told myself this year that after I was finished with taxes, I would start sewing again. There are so many projects tha I want to finish and I just haven't made much time. So I finally decided that it was time to get back into it. I got hookied on Pinterest and looked for anything tha I could find to sew. There are tons of really great ideas! Anything you can imagine! Leggings from tshirts are what I want to try, but I don't dare without a pattern. So I decided to stick to what I know. I love shopping Walmart for the remnance cloth to make things. I found some really cute fabric last night that I plan to make skirts with for my little girl. She is way big into "Pretty dresses" right now and that's all she wants to wear. So I made her a really cute spring dress. I started yesterday and finished today. It really wasn't that hard, I just had issues with my bobbin. I've had my sewing machine for about 20 years now and you'd think I knew how to work it, but no. So here is the cute little spring dress I just finished!

I can not believe it has been over 3 months since I last posted! We have been crazy busy and whenever I think about it, I can't get on my blog from my iPad. So much has happened and time flies so fast I can't believe it! Thanksgiving was nice where we had family come to us. We smoked a couple turkeys and roasted one, it was a big hit. We have smoked a lot of things. This is my husbands new found passion and we have so much fun, from fish, to chicken, to turkey, to ham at Christmas, which didn't turn out the best, but hey we tried.

Christmas was also nice. We have loved being able to stay home with our family and enjoy presents and food without having to pack up our 5 kids and all our stuff and try to travel somewhere. My family came the next day to share some gift exchange and dinner.

Now it's a new year, with new challenges and resolutions. I have learned not to set myself to many resolutions because, like most peoples, they get thrown out the window within the first couple weeks. I really want and NEED to lose some weight. I have gained 10 pounds or more over the last couple years, since having my little girl, so that is where I want to start, but I still eat pretty much what I want and don't exercise consistently like I should, so I fluctuate about 5 lbs up or down each week. I also can't seem to find the motivation to start exercising and getting into shape or the desire to eat right.

My husbands family is doing a contest per say, that they call "The better Bunnell's". It's a contest in the sense that we get points for doing different things each day and then in the end we get prizes. They did this last year and we started to participate but it got really hard trying to keep track of all of my points as well as all of my kids. We also set goals and if you achieve that goal, you get a prize to, I think. Lots of fun. So my first goal is to lose the ten pounds I have gained, which is turning out to be harder than I thought it would be. Any suggestions would be great. I did weight watchers three years ago and did good with it, I just have a hard time trying to remember to write down my points. I need to find something to help me.

My next goal after that is to lose another 10 ponds. Wish me luck. I want to be able to put on a pair on jeans that are my size and not have them cut into my waist. Or walk and be able to feel my behind moving. Plus the health benefits will be great in the long run. Wish me lots of luck. Until next time....
